For actor turned producer-director Himanshu Malik, it’s really “exciting

For actor turned producer-director Himanshu Malik, it’s really “exciting” that his 2001 classic Tum Bin is re-releasing at the theatres on September 20. “It’s such a wonderful feeling to go back into the memory lane. This was one of the initial films that wasn’t star studded and purely content driven, with first time producers and directors,” he says, adding, “To have Tum Bin survive so long and have such an impact on a wide audience is a satisfying feeling. It’s the sheer power of the film that it’s coming back.”

Anubhav Sinha’s Tum Bin and Kamaleshwar Mukherjee’s Chander Pahar join the long list of old classics hitting the big screen again this year. Both films, though vastly different in genre and language, left a lasting impact on the audiences and are now poised for a new run from September 20.

Sandali Sinha, who became a sensation with Tum Bin in 2001, struggled to find leading roles afterward and gradually faded from Bollywood. After marrying businessman Kiran Salaskar in 2005, she shifted focus to family and supporting her husband’s food business. Sandali made a brief cameo in Tum Bin II (2016) but has since stayed out of the limelight.
